Excerpts from Father Bartholomew's Journals:Spring, 4AC
I have begun to be very afraid for our town. An entrance (or exit, if you will) was found in the dark recesses of an unused storehouse. This hole of sorts leads under the ground, and surrounding it is an aura of evil so thick, that only the very strongest and most powerful of our citizens can remain in the vicinity for more than a few moments.
We need to find out what is down there and where it leads. This must be how the intruders are entering the city...
Already two parties have attempted an exploration. When the first party went down, those of us nearest the hole could hear their screams of terror and agony. God above only knows what horrors awaited them in that pit!
The second party left a week ago. They still have not returned. I fear that they too have met a grisly fate at the hands of whatever inhabits these caverns under our city.
Today our messengers leave to seek the help we so badly need. We now realize that this is something we cannot hope to handle alone.
